Besides being a veterinarian doctor by profession, Roopnarine Balkaran, popularly known as Dev is gifted with a soul-full voice. Equally at ease with different styles of vocal music, such as gazals, bhajans, popular songs, he is well trained in the North Indian style of Classical Music. He has three CDs to his credit and has performed at a number of prestigious places in America, Canada, Trinidad and his country of origin, Guyana. Mala Balkaran, the wife of Dev has been a source of inspiration in the family for taking up music training seriously. After a rigorous training for 5 years, they have returned to the US to spread their knowledge on the subject.
